Bouzouki

What the heck is it? A four course 8 stringed instrument, like a mandolin, except longer strings (about the same as a guitar). Originally adapted in Ireland from the Greek bowl-backed bouzouki. This instrument sounds great and is very unique and fun to play. It is usually tuned either G D A D or G D A E. Darrell has come up with designs that produce a powerful rich sound in this instrument. The sound could be described as similar to the mandolin, but one octave lower, which produces lovely drones and harmonics.

Bouzoukis are a staple in Celtic music and compliment the guitar and fiddle nicely.
